Winter Weather Survival Mixed Case - Delicious Reds Edition
$230 value for just $175
The mixed case includes:
2 bottles - Cambria Clone 4 Pinot Noir (California) - This wonderful Pinot Noir from the Santa Maria Valley opens by wafting from the glass with a complex nose of spice, cocoa nib, plums, cherries and soil. On the palate, the wine is supple, plush and expansive, with velvety tannins, juicy acids, good concentration and length and a saline, savory finish.
2 bottles - Santa Rita Medalla Real Cabernet Sauvignon (Chile) - Deep ruby-red in color, with a bouquet of black fruits such as black currants, blueberries, and blackberries with dried figs, cigar box, and spice notes. The concentrated palate offers well-rounded ripe tannins that create the prominent backbone that leads the wine on to a long, lingering finish.
2 bottles - Sant Evasio Barbera d'Asti (Italy) - Cantina Sant' Evasio represents modern winemaking from long standing traditions. The name comes from the chapel on the hill built in the 18th century, later destroyed in WWII. Barbera is their trademark grape and continues to represent outstanding value in today's times. This version from the town of Asti, is a deeply colored, bright red wine showing classic black cherry fruit with light ash, juniper berry and classic flavors.
2 bottles - Chateau Croix d'Aumedes Cuvee Reserve Corbieres (France) - The vast Corbières zone in the Languedoc contains a little bit of everything, from classic warmth and generosity on the outskirts of Narbonne to wild mountain wines in the hinterland and concentrated, stony wines up on the border with the Agly Valley and the Roussillon. In a way, this blend of Carignan (a great Corbières speciality) with Syrah and Grenache brings all three styles together: flowers and fruit in the billowing, sweet-scented aromas and both generous fruits and something more stony and driving in the finely constructed palate. The tannins are present but unintimidating, and the acidity is unobtrusive and ripe. So easy to drink that you almost overlook those complexities -- but they'll keep you coming back for more. 97 points Decanter
1 bottle - Ca Momi Rosso (California) - This wine is rich but not soft, bold but not arrogant. Pair with whatever you want, and bring California attitude back to California wine. 1/3 each Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot & Zinfandel.
1 bottle - Vilamar Cabernet Sauvignon/Merlot (Spain) - Candied, oaky aromas of clove outmuscle foxy berry scents. This blend of 60% Merlot and 40% Cab Sauvignon is heavy, tannic and ultimately a bit overweight and flabby. Clove, wood spice and cooked berry flavors finish with baking spice and woody notes.
1 bottle - Angry Bunch Mendocino Zinfandel (California) - The name Angry Bunch refers to the boldly flavored style produced from burly old-vine Zinfandel. The Code of the Angry Bunch ensures that only fully ripe and ready grapes bursting with flavor become part of any Angry Bunch Zin. This wine is a blend from Dry Creek Valley, California a magnificent long, narrow valley that has diverse soils, varying elevations, wind, rainfall and sun exposure which create unique, expressive wines. This old-vine Zin is supplemented with a small portion of Zinfandel and Petite Sirah from Mendocino County.
1 bottle - Slam Dunk Red (California) - Pure sun-ripened lusciousness, Slam Dunk showcases all the power and structure California has to offer. This lush, mega-hit blend knows how to turn up the volume; full of bramble, violets, and blackberry pie, the mouthfeel is packed with sweet black cherry, and dark chocolate. The juicy mid-palate reveals flavors of raspberry and toasted vanilla with ripe tannins and opulent finish. This mountain of flavor is designed to accentuate every “slam dunk” moment.
