Vinedos La Maldita 2015 Rioja Garnacha
There are exceptions to every rule. You would, 95% of the time be correct in assuming that a red from Rioja would be predominately Tempranillo. There are however, other varietals allowed to be grown in the district and this 100% Grenache (Garnacha in Spain) is a big, juicy, spicy red that is not too complicated, but delicious and easy to drink. When a Rioja isn't predominately Tempranillo, it must clearly state the varietal on the front label as La Maldita does here. Incredibly fresh and fruit-forward with notes of strawberries, tart cherries, spring flowers, and loamy soil undertones in a medium-bodied, pure format. Vibrant acidity and silky tannins allow this easy-drinking red to go down smoothly. Aged predominantly in stainless steel on the lees for 3-4 months, with a percentage resting in French and American barrels. Enjoy with everyday favorites such as pizza, pastas, burgers, and grilled vegetables.
