If you're a fan of Petite Sirahs like Orin Swift's Machete and other big bold reds from winemaker David Phinney then you need to try this fantastic Petite from Stanton Vineyards.

The Stanton family has been growing some of Napa's most prized fruit (especially Cabernet Sauvignon and Petite Sirah) since the 1940's. Cult producers like Del Dotto, Groth, Stags Leap Winery, Merryvale, Orin Swift and many more have relied on the Stanton's fruit over the years. In 2002 the Stantons decided it was time to start bottling their own wines from their choicest blocks of fruit and a then up-and-coming winemaker David Phinney agreed to be their winemaker.

From the beginning, the intention was to keep thing small, and the Stantons still only produce around 800 total cases of wine each year. So if you like Dave's Orin Swift Machete Petite Sirah based blend then you're going to love the straight Petite Sirah wine that he makes for the farmer that sells him the fruit he uses to make Machete.
It is 100% varietal Petite Sirah grown exclusively on the Stanton Estate Vineyard, St. Helena, Napa Valley, that is aged for 21 months in American and French oak barrels, and there were just 286 cases of this amazing Petite produced.  This delicious Petite Sirah is one of the most aromatically compelling Petites you’ll ever come across, as in typical Dave Phinney style, it oozes a deep, dark black currant taste of blackberry and blueberry with well-integrated spicy flavors, finishing in a hedonistic display of fruit.
