Ron Rubin Russian River Chardonnay
The Russian River AVA of Sonoma produces some of the world's best, most distinctive, most popular and deliciously rich and complex Chardonnays. All that recognition and fanatic following has come with a price with even mass produced versions like Sonoma-Cutrer fetching prices in the $25+ range. So we were really excited and impressed when we tasted this fantastic Russian River Chardonnay from Ron Rubin and found out we would be able to sell it for just $16.
Many Chardonnay fans in the Raleigh area are already familiar with Ron Rubin's wines as his River Road wines used to be staples at local restaurants and wine shops until they went "mass market" and increased production to supply "big box" retailers and the quality subsequently suffered. Well the Ruben family and winemaker Joe Freeman have returned to their roots with this delicious, 90 point (Wine Enthusiast) bargain of a Russian River Chardonnay.
Soft creamy notes of apples, pears and spices envelope the senses, with added aromas of vanilla and toasty oak. This Chardonnay is very balanced and approachable with crisp fruit flavors, hints of butter and oak.
