Owen Roe Ex-Umbris Syrah
Bursting with aromas of red plum, blueberry, and pink peppercorn. The palate is filled with refreshing flavors of fresh summer blackberries, currant, and dark chocolate with noticeably structured acidity and silky tannins. This wine was introduced as a one-time bottling in 2002 after a wild fire struck the vineyard's surrounding hillsides. The residual ash and smoke resonated in the Syrah grapes, creating a very memorable wine. Year after year, Owen Roe is asked to develop a Syrah to keep the story of this wine alive! They've done a great job with the wine being a top value in every vintage and the 2009 in the Spectator top 100.
