That's a dozen great, small production reds for less than $11 per bottle!
Mixed Case includes 2 bottles each:
Caprili Ilex Sangiovese - A symbol of Montalcino, the Holm Oak (Quercus ilex) stands tall at Caprili estate, to the point of lending its name to this Tuscan red. Crafted from estate grown Sangiove, Tuscany & Chianti's signature grape, this drinks like a Chianti that costs twice the price. Some breathing will reveal aromas of leather, meat, cherry and spices. Equally as good with Italian sausage or a vegetarian lasagne.
Pedra Cancela Dao Red - This incredible wine received 96 points from Decanter Magazine last year and the new vintage looks to be just as good if not better. Reminds us of a top notch, $25-$30 Cotes du Rhone Village for less than half the price. Intense ruby color with light purple nuances. The aroma is rich with hints of ripe berries and cocoa. On the palate shows an intense medium-body with good freshness and the typical elegance of the Dao mountain wines.
Atance Bobal - The Atance Bobal is sourced from the Casa Segura estate vineyards, pure organically-farmed Bobal on limestone soils at 800 meters altitude. The wine fermented in stainless steel, and malolactic was in oak vat where the wine matured for four months before bottling. This is very expressive, clean and focused, nicely balanced, with no apparent oak, with vibrant fruit, nice focus, high pitched fruit and a thin layer of spices. It has a fine texture with some tannins and a mineral sensation, very tasty, balanced and with a clean finish. It opens up nicely with time in the glass, with some floral notes.
Bodegas Care "Nativa" Old Vines Garnacha - A gorgeous Garnacha that has an attractive bright red color with powerful aromas of ripe red and black fruits with cacao and coffee bean notes. On the palate, one finds spices, toasty hints and mature notes, with a perfectly integrated tannic structure. On the finish, the wine is rich, elegant powerful, and fruit driven.
Finca La Linda Malbec - It's been quite a while since we've had the La Linda Malbec in the shop, but the new vintage is absolutely delicious! The nose has a mix of black fruits rich and ripe the palate black plum, black truffles and dark chocolate the tannins are fine and integrated the mid palate supple, fleshy with velvet smoothness. Bilberry towards the back balances the richness but it finishes with a mix of fleshy black fruits.
Soldiers Block Shiraz - If you're like many winedrinkers, Australian Shiraz has fallen off your radar lately, but you really should revisit this fantastic wine region and its wines.
