En Memoire du Malbec 2016 Bordeaux
En Memoire du Malbec (which translates to In Memory of Malbec) is a tribute to the outstanding Malbec wines, widely produced in France before the devastating frost in 1956 when 75% of the Malbec crop was lost. Bordeaux is actually a birth land of Malbec grape – it was historically a major planting in this region, providing color and fruit to the Bordeaux blend. Malbec is one of the original five primary wine varietals. En Mémoire du Malbec is made with 100% organically grown French Malbec grapes.
En Mémoire du Malbec is comprised of 30% Oak Aged and 70% steel tank fresh Malbec. A delicate body style with additional finesse when enjoyed side by side with Argentinian versions. French Malbec ages well as a result of its high level of tannins. The wine has a deep purple color with aromas of black fruits, spices and oaky vanilla. The wine has great balance and finishes long. En Mémoire du Malbec pairs extremely well with meats such as poultry, lamb or brisket, and with rustic flavors such as blue cheese, cumin spice and mushrooms.
