Tikves Rkaciteli (Macedonia) - Rkaciteli is one of the the world's oldest winemaking grapes, originating in Georgia, with evidence that it has been used to make wine for over 3000 years. Tikves' Rkaciteli was fermented 4 months in stainless steel tanks, golden yellow in color with scents of fresh peach, grapefruit, pineapple and mango and high acidity. A perfect wine for Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Grigio drinkers looking for something a little different.
Olivier Leflaive Aligote (Burgundy) - Burgundy's "other" grape, Aligote is a delicious grape starting to gain traction in many other growing regions as it grows well in many climates. A vibrant, sleek white, with apple, lemon and saline flavors focused by lively acidity. Balanced and long, this finishes with a salty tang. This shows finesse and brightness for an Aligote with lemon and green-mango character. Medium-bodied, dry and lively, this is a great example of the often underrated Aligote. It's decidedly Chablis-like, with just a tiny hint of stone fruit ripeness and a dash of Aligote's signature almond note.
Cantine Dei Martiena (Tuscany) - One of the most delicious, complex, yet light and easily drinkable Italian white wines we've tasted in ages. A blend of Malvasia Toscana, Grechetto, Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay, this is a must try for lovers of unoaked, crisp white wines. Fresh aromas of spring with lemons, melon and ripe pears. On the palate there are notes of lemon, ripe pears, and nectarines accented by hints of green herbs, almond and pineapple.
Domaine Vetriccie Biancu Gentile (Corsica) - Our Rose fans will already be familiar with Corsica's Domaine Vetriccie, but here we have their signature white. Made from 100% Biancu Gentile, an indigenous varietal that grows only on Corsica, known for intense Meyer lemon meringue notes, fresh cut herbs and vibrant acidity.
Quinta de Linhares Azal (Vinho Verde) – Quinta de Linhares Azal is a white wine crafted in Portugal's Vinho Verde region. But don't confuse this with one of the simple, fizzy, white blends you most often see from Vinho Verde. This is an estate produced, no spritz, highly complex wine from the Azal grape. A rustic and little-known grape variety with citric aromas reminding fruits such as lime and pineapple.
Gonc Pet-Nat (Slovenia) -This effervescent, refreshing wine offers scents of fresh lemon and minerals, with hints of crisp pear and almonds. On the palate, the bouquet opens to flavors of green grapes, lemon peel and herbs with a slight hint of black pepper on the finish. Cloudy and wild, with big juicy bubbles, it’s a perfect aperitif or complement to seafood and other light fare.
