Chateaumar Cuvee Bastien Grenache - This declassified Chateauneuf-du-Pape is an outrageous bargain. Producers in Chateauneuf are only allowed to produce a certain number of bottles labelled Chateauneuf-du-Pape each year, so Chateaumar releases some fantastic, 100% Grenache as regular Cotes-du-Rhone in some vintages. Gorgeous purple color with aromas of plum, violets, cinnamon and cherry. The palate follows through on the flavors promised by the nose and adds garrique, wet cement and boysenberry pie notes.
