Catena Alta Chardonnay is an assemblage created from historic rows within the family’s estate vineyards in Luján de Cuyo, Tupungato and Altamira. If you want to get super geeky, it comes from the chalky soils of the iconic Adrianna vineyard and the gravelly Domingo vineyard. The subtle differences in the terroir of these plots imparts a rich complexity to the wine, as does the 14 months in French oak barrels. Think of it as all the instruments in an orchestra coming together to create a symphony. Opulent and rich, but with a tight acidity that keeps it all bound together. Buttery croissants, juicy peach, pear, apricot, jasmine, wildflower meadows, cream, a little smoky oak and a twist of citrus; a masterpiece in Chardonnay.
