Adegamae 2011 Dory Reserva Red
The regular Dory was a huge hit for us, but it's sadly no longer available, so the importer sent us their Reserva to try. Our reaction - holy cow, why didn't we get to try this months ago with the regular Dory, because it's fantastic and worth every penny over the price of the regular. 2011 was a superb vintage for Portugal and this red blend from the Lisboa region is a clear example of how great a year is was. The Reserva replaces the Aragonez (Tempranillo) with Cabernet Sauvignon in the blend along with the Touriga Nacional and Syrah components of the regular Dory. The Reserve also comes from the winery's top vineyard sites and sees longer oak ageing in a mix of French and American oak to yield a bold, juicy red with aromas and flavors of black fruits, plums and blackberries, dark chocolate and baking spices. Floral notes in the middle add a nice dimension of complexity to a very elegant wine, with soft tannins and great persistence.
