2011 Gallica Wine Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (92 pts)
A touch of recalcitrant weather, heroic viticulturists, and winemakers summoning up all their techne only begin to describe the dramatic 2011 growing season. In years such as these, sites with perfect drainage and optimal exposure speak volumes. The 2011 Gallica Cabernet bottling is stylish, serious, and aromatically expressive. Tannins are remarkably fine. The elevated Oakville site performed beautifully, favoring notes of crushed rock, exotic cardamom, and the enticing perfume of oolong tea. The modest addition of Petit Verdot offers its usual signature of fresh flowers and vibrant color.
