Shop Local Raleigh!
WHY SHOP LOCALLY AND INDEPENDENT?
We all love the convenience and variety provided by “big box” stores like Wal-Mart, Target and Total Wine, and we’re not hypocritical enough to tell anyone they should never patronize these types of establishments. There are times when we all need a variety of things and in this fast paced, modern world we often don’t have time to make multiple stops to do our shopping. What many of don’t realize is that locally and independently owned shops and restaurants offer just as good as, if not better value for your dollar than the big boxes.
Explain Please?
We’ll stick to wine analogies for this digression, but the goods and services talked about apply equally to almost any type of retailer.
Pricing/Quality – Just like the larger retailers, we offer wines at every price point, from $5 to $500. Just because we’re a “specialty wine store” doesn’t mean we’re wine snobs and cater only to collectors and connoisseurs. Just like the big box and grocery stores, we sell more wine in the $10-$20 range than anything else. The difference is that our $10 bottle offers better value than theirs. Most of our wines are small production and hand-crafted, even at the sub-$15 range. We don’t have large advertising budgets or corporate overhead to pay and neither do our wineries. Our money and theirs is all going into the bottle.
Service – Ever try to go into the grocery store, Target or even Total Wine and find someone who can tell you the difference between two wines on the shelf? Even if you could find someone to talk to, they probably couldn’t tell you the difference between a Cab and Merlot, much less recommend a specific wine. At Taylor’s we’ve tried almost every wine in the store and can assist with descriptions, food pairings, or tracking down and special ordering your favorite wine not on our shelves.
Your Money Stays Local – Shopping a locally owned business keeps more of your hard earned money in the local economy. Our owners and employees are all local, pay taxes here, and spend their money here. Local businesses are also more likely to support the local charities, sports teams and civic.
