Tavel is one of the few French winemaking regions known primarily for Rose, and they were in short supply for the 2020 vintage. Luckily the lengthy delay in getting our allocation of Manissy's fantastic bottling arrived just a few weeks ago and is still available for Southern French Wine Month. A blend of 60% Grenache, 30% Clairette, & 10% Syrah it is a powerful and deeply colored Rose (typical of the region), that has mineral-accented aromas of ripe red berries and citrus fruits, joined by a suave floral topnote that builds in the glass. Intense and concentrated on the palate, offering fresh raspberry, bitter cherry and blood orange flavors and a hint of honeysuckle. Finishes long and chewy yet precise on the palate, delivering a strong mineral cut and lingering florality.
