Unless you're a true oenophile or a dedicated Spanish wine fan, you can be forgiven for not knowing about the grape Bobal, but you should definitely get to know this ancient grape. It is the main grape of the Utiel-Requina region (makes up over 70% of the plantings in the region) and has been used for winemaking since the 7th century BCE. Deep cherry red color with intense aromas of cherry, blackberry and red currants, accompanied by notes of vanilla, against a toasted and spicy backdrop. The mouthfeel is fresh, fruity with smooth tannins.
"Berries, cherries and wild strawberries aromas with floral undertones. Juicy on the palate with some texture, full of fruity concentration." - 91 Points, Decanter World Wine Awards
